Differences between Smart Glass and Smart Film

Probably the main difference  is manufacturing process itself.

Smart Glass is a glass product consisting of a Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) film sandwiched between two layers of glass.

On the other hand, Smart Film is a PDLC Film ready to be used on an already existing glass surface.

The reason why PDLC film technology has advanced is evident. It is more economical and acceptable to apply a PDLC film on an already existing glass surface than to replace that same glass surface with Smart glass.

However, if you are looking for a product with better performance in thermal and sound insulation, then it is logical that you will opt for Smart glass rather than Smart film.

Also, if you are still in the construction process and have not installed glass in your space, you can calculate the cost of installing the smart glass (SG) and thus immediately provide your business (or home) with the most efficient product of SG technology.

Speaking of costs, the self-adhesive PDLC Film saves the cost of the original glass and all the costs of glass processing, and that is why the price will be significantly lower.

One more difference is transportation method.

The SG is heavy and quite fragile, which means the transportation has certain risks. Also, for long-distance transportation, it is recommended that the products be transported within wooden boxes which increases the costs, since the fees and freights are relatively high.

On the other hand, the PDLC film can be rolled into drum packaging, which lowers the shipping costs and is more convenient for transportation.

As for the installation method, while installation of the SG is mostly the same as ordinary glass, the PDLC film requires the meticulous and precise installation process.

It requires a clean and smooth glass surface and qualified personnel, like expert employees of Infinity Smart Film Company!

Usage of SG Technology

Several industries can benefit from SG Technology products. For example, business and commercial offices, retail stores, residential, accommodation services, and even the healthcare industry, where it is an effective solution in the fight against airborne viruses, in contrast to traditional fabric curtains that collect germs and viruses.

Besides the obvious usage for privacy purposes (which can also increase work productivity from distractions in your workspace), Smart glass/film is an impressive substitute for curtains, blinds, and shades.

Furthermore, Smart Glass technology will protect you from harmful UV rays as it blocks over 99% of ultraviolet radiation, and it will protect your interior furniture from fading and degradation.

Usage of SG technology brings one more exciting benefit: HD projection.

The Smart Glass/ Film surface can be utilized as a projection screen.

It means that you can run promotions or advertising at a retail storefront, presentations at your office, or stream movies and shows at home, enjoying a big HD cinema screen.

With all the above uses, you will agree that Smart Glass technology brings a modern and novelty look with a touch of luxury and innovation.
